It is brought to the notice of general public/consumers and Government departments that the power supply will remain suspended in some of the areas in South Andaman on 16.02.2013 from 0800 hours to 1400 hours for undertaking HT and LT line clearance from Dhanikhari to Port Mout.

Port Blair, Feb. 14: Two persons died and three including a child were admitted at G.B. Pant Hospital, Port Blair after they consumed Potka Mach (Puffer Fish).

The incident took place yesterday night at Wandoor when the family members of Bappa Majumder 30, his wife Manju Majumder 22, his child, his brother-in-law Tarun Das 25 and a relative Sudhir Biswas 45 had consumed Puffer Fish.

Port Blair, Feb. 14: The Secretary (Agriculture/Animal Husbandry/Fisheries), Shri S.N. Misra was on a four-day visit to Middle & North Andamans from 9th to 12th February 2013.

During his visit, he interacted with the officers and staff of Agriculture Farm at Nimbudera, Mayabunder and Diglipur. He also inspected the cattle and poultry farms of the Animal Husbandry department. He was apprised of the various activities and on-going schemes being implemented by the department.

Port Blair, Feb. 14: The PCC President, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Director (CS & CA) to ensure door delivery of gas cylinders at Soal Bay. Sharma had attended a meeting of Soal Bay Gram Panchayat on 12th Feb. 2013 where Shri AR Kumar, Pradhan briefed him of various problems faced by the residents. One among them was non-delivery of gas cylinders. Sharma thus suggested the Director to identify a suitable spot at Soal Bay to deliver cylinders and also to announce the date and time of delivery in the area.

In another request made to the PCC President, Ms. Rani, Social Worker from Soal Bay requested for loan to the Self Help Group so that the womenfolk are able to purchase and rear goats to earn their livelihood. To this Sharma suggested them to contact the nearest branch of A&N Coop Bank or to the General Manager, Shri Murugan who was also present in the meeting and apply for loan.
