Port Blair, Jan 18: Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and President Forest Labour Union, Chatham Mill Division paid a visit to the Government Saw Mill Chatham today. The Office Bearers and members of the Forest Labour Union, Chatham Mill Division affiliated to INTUC gave warm welcome to the MP at the main gate. Shri. S. Balakrishnan Vice President of the Union felicitated the MP by adorning shawl for receiving Sansad Ratna award for the third consecutive year. Shri T. Purushotham, the elected member of the Works Committee of Mill Division Chatham of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) joined the Forest Labour Union, Chatham by taking membership in presence of the MP. By this strength of elected members of the Forest Labour Union in the Works Committee has increased to 8 (eight) out of a total strength of 10 (ten).

Kalighat, Jan 18: On 17.01.2024, the Kalighat Police executed a swift and efficient operation, showcasing their unwavering dedication to combatting illegal activities. They successfully confiscated a substantial quantity of Lehan in the dense forest of Talbagan, under the jurisdiction of PS Kalighat.

Taking immediate action, SI Silpi Singha, SHO PS Kalighat, swiftly formed a specialised team under the leadership of ASI Mukesh Charan I/c OP Kishorinagar along with PCs Jaspal Singh, Ripon Mistry and Shoaib Ali. The team successfully seized a significant quantity of 170 liters of Lehan stored in 8 Jerricans along with Bhatti articles and various utensils used for the preparation of illicit liquor. These illicit materials had been cunningly hidden within the depths of the jungle. Subsequently, all confiscated items were promptly destroyed, delivering a severe blow to the illegal liquor manufacturing network.

The Mobile App AN Seva 311 was launched by the Chief Secretary on 9th January, 2024.   

Port Blair, Jan. 18: The One Stop Centre under the Directorate of Social Welfare organized an online awareness session through zoom and emphasized on women empowerment, legal rights and about different women protection Schemes. Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (SW), stressed on the importance of women education and its most important means of empowering women with the knowledge, skills, and self-confidence necessary to participate fully in the development process. The program was attended by PBMC Ward Councillor, representative of PRIs, general public, SHGs and staff of Child Helpline.

Port Blair, Jan. 18: The National Health Authority, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India has launched the Ayushman App BIS 2.0 as part of the Ayushman Bhav campaign. The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store by the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) beneficiaries who can create their PMJAY Cards using this app. The PMJAY beneficiaries of A&N Islands having Priority Household (PHH) and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) categories of Ration Cards can create their PMJAY Cards using this app. The PHH and AAY Ration Card holders can also visit the nearest Health Centres to get their PMJAY Cards created.
