Car Nicobar, Jan. 1: The District Administration, Car Nicobar, Nicobar District celebrated the Island Tourism Festival-2023 on Dec. 28 & 29, 2023 in a befitting manner at Children’s Park, ITDP, Big Lapathy village under Car Nicobar. The event was commemorated with the inauguration ceremony by Smti. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, Deputy Commissioner in the presence of Shri Manjeet Sheoran, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District, Shri Lioneld Nicomede, Chairman, Tribal Council, Car Nicobar, Department Heads and the general public in large number.

Port Blair, Jan. 1: In response to the growing need for accessible and efficient transport services, the Transport Department has recently organized a ‘Road Safety Awareness Camp’ at Tushnabad Community Hall on Dec.28, 2023, in coordination with PRI Members, local citizens and the Police Department. The aim of the event was to address all issues related to the Motor Vehicle Department and to create awareness about road safety among road users.

Port Blair, Jan. 1: Celebrating the joyous festival of New Year, the SHG Mela organised by Andaman and Nicobar Rural Livelihood Mission attached to Directorate of RD, PRIs and ULBs, A&N Administration continued on 1st January 2024 as ‘New Year SHG Mela’ catching the attention of the local populace and tourists of Port Blair. The stalls were seen over crowded with people and the SHGs have received overwhelming response from the public.

Port Blair, Jan. 1: Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS), Port Blair in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), GoI, with the support of National Health Mission (NHM), the National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment (NPCB&VI), and the Directorate of Health Services, A &N Islands, is set to host a Cataract and Eye Care Camp from 2nd January 2024. This initiative, scheduled to be held through January and February 2024 will witness the surgical correction of cataracts in more than 500 patients from all three Districts of A & N Islands with the ambitious goal of declaring A & N Islands as the first Cataract Free Union Territory in India.
