Port Blair, Oct. 18: The Hindu Rashtra Shakti (HRS) has requested Air Ganga Airlines/ Virgo Air to commence its services in Port Blair sector at the earliest. In a letter to Captain Sikander Rizvi of M/s Air Ganga Airlines / Virgo Air, Shri Rakeshwar Lall, State President, HRS congratulated him for launching the Air Ganga Airlines service in India and requested to operate the Air Ganga service from Port Blair to Mainland (Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Delhi). The HRS also suggested introducing Sea plane & Chartered Helicopter (for tourism & emergency purpose of Virgo Air) for islanders. 

Port Blair, Oct. 18: The public holiday declared vide Administration’s notification dated 20.07.2020 on the eve of ‘Prophet Mohammad’s Birthda (Milad-un-Nahi/ Id-e-Milad’ will be observed on 20th Oct. 2021 based on the sighting of moon instead of 19th October 2021 as informed by the Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Hilal Committee, a press note issued by the A&N Administration today stated.

Port Blair, Oct. 16 The Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah on Saturday 16th Oct. 2021 virtually inaugurated the Humphrey Strait Creek bridge from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island at Port Blair.  The bridge has been named ‘Azad Hind Fauz Setu’. It is the longest bridge in Andaman and Nicobar Islands of 1.18km in length. The Home Minister also inaugurated 49 Health and Wellness Centres in the islands by upgrading the existing health centres.

Port Blair, Oct. 17: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma called on the Union Minister of Home Affairs and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah at Raj Niwas and highlighted major issues before him apart from raising several other people centric demands.

Among major issues raised, the Member of Parliament demanded establishment of an IT park in A&N Islands and laying of 2nd OFC line from Diglipur to Digha in West Bengal.
