Car Nicobar, Jan. 19: The Nicobar District Administration, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner (Nicobar), Shri Amit Kale, IAS, has launched a transformative cleanliness campaign named ‘Clean Nicobar, Green Nicobar’. The drive, conducted under the aegis of Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen), commenced on 15th January and will continue till 25th January, 2025.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan. 19: The 68th (SGFI) National School Track Cycling Championship for U-17 Boy’s and Girl’s is presently being held at Ranchi, Jharkhand. The Island Cycling Team have won Gold Medal in Track Cycling (Team event) for under 17 years (Girls). Ms. Namita Violet, Ms. I S Bridney, Ms.Britney and Queendaline were the Gold Medalist in the team event. Individual events for Under (19) Boy’s and Girl’s will be played tomorrow.

Peddapuram, Andhra Pradesh, Jan 19: The 13th National Schools Chess Championship 2025 is currently underway at Sri Prakash Synergy School, Peddapuram, Andhra Pradesh from 17th to 21st January 2025. Organized by the Andhra Chess Association under the aegis of All India Chess Federation (AICF), the championship has attracted 1214 young chess players across the country, competing in twelve categories viz. Under-7, 9, 11, 13, 15, and 17 for both boys and girls.

Ograbraj, Jan 19: On the night of 16th January 2025, an alarming incident took place during a night patrolling operation in Port Mout, Brindaban RF - Block-1, Caddlegunj, when a team of forest officials, apprehended individuals engaged in illegal sawing down of a Padauk tree.
During the operation, one of the offenders, identified as Deepak Singh (known as Shilbu) attempted to resist arrest by wielding a machete which resulted in an injury to one of the forest workers. As the situation escalated Shilbu's brother Ghan Shyam Singh (known as Deepu), who was armed with a machete arrived on the scene and verbally threatened the forest officials to kill them and demanded the release of his brother. In the ensuing chaos, the offenders managed to escape under the cover of darkness, taking advantage of the night hours.

Car Nicobar, Jan 19: ICAR-KVK CIARI Nicobar commenced a training session on "Empowering SHGs through Agricultural Income Generation Activities" at Tapoiming Village. The session was inaugurated by Shri. Kale Amit Marutirao, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Nicobar District. The event witnessed active participation from a large number of Self-Help Group (SHG) members, progressive farmers, and local community leaders, who engaged in discussions and activities aimed at enhancing agricultural practices and promoting income-generating initiatives for SHGs.
