Peddapuram, Andhra Pradesh, Jan 19: The 13th National Schools Chess Championship 2025 is currently underway at Sri Prakash Synergy School, Peddapuram, Andhra Pradesh from 17th to 21st January 2025. Organized by the Andhra Chess Association under the aegis of All India Chess Federation (AICF), the championship has attracted 1214 young chess players across the country, competing in twelve categories viz. Under-7, 9, 11, 13, 15, and 17 for both boys and girls.

Car Nicobar, Jan 19: ICAR-KVK CIARI Nicobar commenced a training session on "Empowering SHGs through Agricultural Income Generation Activities" at Tapoiming Village. The session was inaugurated by Shri. Kale Amit Marutirao, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Nicobar District. The event witnessed active participation from a large number of Self-Help Group (SHG) members, progressive farmers, and local community leaders, who engaged in discussions and activities aimed at enhancing agricultural practices and promoting income-generating initiatives for SHGs.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 19: At the call jointly given by CITU, AIKS, etc. at Delhi to observe 19th January, 2025 as Mazdoor-Kisan Unity Day throughout India, to mark the 42nd year of the first All India Strike of workers and farmers on 19th January, 1982 in which ten workers and farmers were killed throughout the country in the firing by police, the CITU organised a Mass Demonstration at 10 a.m. today (19th January, 2025) in front of Municipal Council office, Aberdeen Bazar. R. Surendran Pillai, President, CITU Andaman & Nicobar State Committee inaugurated the programme. Addressing the gathering he briefly explained the first nation-wide joint strike by farmers and workers of 1982 and said that the farmers are currently on agitation for the last one year in Delhi and surrounding States with their genuine demands. 

Dollygunj, Jan 19: In adherence to its zero-tolerance policy against crime, Police Station Pahargaon has apprehended an individual involved in a brutal attempt-to-murder incident at Shiv Colony, Dollygunj.

On 17/01/2025, based on the complaint of Smti. Pinki Biswas, a resident of Dollygunj, a criminal case has been registered at Police Station Pahargaon against her husband. As per the complaint, the couple had been facing ongoing family disputes and frequent altercations. On 16/01/2025, a heated argument escalated, during which her husband assaulted her brutally with a daav with the intension to kill her. The victim managed to escape and a PCR vehicle promptly reached the spot, took her to PHC Garacharma and from there she was referred to GB Pant Hospital for further course of treatment.
