Port Blair, June 18: The Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada ray has demanded to restrict the transfer tenure of the teachers in the Southern Group and the other difficult areas for one year. In his letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, Ray said that the revised transfer Policy which was issued vide circular dated 30th July 2007, clearly defines one year tenure for the group C& D employees of the different departments.

Appreciating the Police higher officials for implementing the policy he said the Police personnel are transferred to Nicobar Group of Islands and other difficult areas for 10 months only. The staffs of the clerical cadres and other Group C&D employees of the different departments are also posted to these areas for one year duration. The MP said that it’s unfortunate that the Directorate of Education hasn’t implemented the revised Policy and has been continuing transferring teachers for indefinite tenure to these hard areas.

Ray also said that the teachers working in Nicobar group of Islands and other difficult areas like Pashchim Sagar, Taal Baagan etc. of North Andaman region, go through tremendous stress and trauma due to the uncertainty of tenure. The teachers would happily proceed to join their duties at these areas, if the tenure is restricted for one session, said the MP. This would not only make the system more transparent, but would make the teachers to prepare themselves mentally for the task ahead and thus the quality for Education in the schools would improve to the expectation.

The MP has thus urged the Lt. Governor to ask the Directorate to implement the ‘Revised Transfer Policy 2007’ with immediate effect. He also requested him to make provisions in the Policy as mentioned in the Notification of 2003, to offer desired place of Posting to the employees who attain 55 years of age.
