Port Blair, March 13: Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharman, President PCC and senior leaders of the party have congratulated Miss Deborah of Kakana Village, Car Nicobar for her commendable performance by winning one silver and two bronze medals in the 33rd Hero Asian Cycling Championship. Sharma has also recorded his gratitude to Lt Governor for announcing a job and cash award for this brave girl. The PCC Prez has also congratulated the people of Car Nicobar and its captains for having a sportsperson like Deborah, who will certainly prove to be an inspiration for all the youths of these islands. 

Port Blair, March 13: The Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh has sanctioned seventy five thousand rupees from LG’s Relief Fund for the treatment of Shri Kumud Ranjan Samaddar in mainland. Shri Samaddar, aged 42 years, R/o Govind Nagar, Havelock is suffering from ‘Pancreatic duct calculus with ductectasia-chronic pancreatits’  and has been referred to CGHS hospital, Chennai for advance treatment.

Since, the patient is physically challenged and considering his poor financial condition, based on the reports of District Administration and Directorate of Health Services, the Lt. Governor has sanctioned the relief amount to him. The Adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, Smt Abala Samaddar and the President, Pradesh Congress Committee, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma had requested for sanctioning the ex-gratia relief to him.  

Port Blair, March 13: AMeeting of the State Heritage Committee was held under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary, A&N Administration today. In the meeting the decision of the last meeting was reviewed and a tentative list of heritage structures and sites including the Japanese bunkers of all the three Districts was discussed.

It was decided that heritage site and structures should be properly developed. Quality display boards with history and photographs of the heritage should be installed in suitable places for information of the visitors. The Director of Art and Culture was asked to prepare a catalogue containing the write-ups and photographs of identified heritage structures.
