It is brought to the notice of the general consumers and government departments that the Tower erection work will be, carried out at loc no, R8 near Andaman Plantation, Attam Pahar by M/s. PGCIL on 26.04.2013. Due to this reason there shall be one hour rotational load shedding in Port Blair and South Andaman area from 0900 hours to 1500 hours if required.

Port Blair, April 23: The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, A&N Islands organised a Dharna in front of the Chief Engineer Office, APWD, Port Blair under the leadership of its District President Shri S. Balaji. The dharna was also joined by the State President BJP, Shri Vishal Jolly, State President BJYM Shri, party leaders and workers who demanded that the concerned department should immediately address the problem of scarcity of drinking water in Port Blair city. The agitators also demanded regularization of DRMs, a Memorandum to this effect was also submitted to the Chief Engineer.

Port Blair, April 22: The PCC President has requested the Lt Governor to consider fixing of a memorial stone in the name of Haji Farzand Ali Khan Saheb in any block of JNRM College.
In his letter to the Administrator, Sharma wrote that Haji Saheb had spent a life of philanthropist and has dedicated many of his properties for the noble cause of charitable purposes for providing help to the needy person and weaker sections of the society and for such generosity, he was bestowed with the title of Khan Saheb by the British government. It is he who has surrendered his prime land of entire plantation at South Point for the noble cause of construction of a Degree College by the A&N Administration for the benefit of the students of the islands.
Accordingly Hamid Ali, Vice President of PCC and Chairperson of Wakf Board has requested the PCC President to take up the issue with the A&N Administration. Sharma has thus requested to fix a memorial stone either at the Stadium or Central Hall/Library of JNRM after the name of Haji Saheb, so that the future generation may recall his big-heartedness.
