Port Blair, April 22: A Gymnasium was inaugurated in the Community Hall at Dairy Farm by Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Chairman, ANCOFED Ltd. on 19th April 2013 at 5.00 P.M. in presence of Shri P.B. Murugan, Chairperson PBMC and Smti. P. Bharati, Chairperson Sub Committee for Education & Social Justice, PBMC in a simple function.

On the occasion Shri J. Rajendran welcomed the distinguished guests, officers of the council and the gathering. Shri P.B. Murugan in his address requested the youths of the area to utilise the facility provided by the Council.

Speaking on the occasion the Chairman, ANCOFED appreciated the Council for taking up welfare / recreation activities in addition to the routine work such as construction of footpath, roads, sanitation, water supply etc. He stressed the need for providing more public water tap connections and construction of public toilets in ward no. 8 & 9. Shri S. Muthuraman, Councillor, PBMC proposed vote of thanks.

Port Blair, April 22: Federation of Responsible Tour Operators an association of tour operators of Andaman & Nicobar Islands which is formed with an motive to promote and regularize tourism in Andamans, lauds the efforts of the Directorate of Tourism and all the concerned from the Andaman & Nicobar Administration for organizing the @nd beach festival and making it a successful event.

FORTO also extends their thanks to Sports Authority of India, Port Blair Municipal Council, ANIIDCO, Department of Industries, Forest officials and  A & N Police and its traffic department and all other departments who have supported the beach festival.

FORTO requests the Director of Tourism to organize the beach festival in other beaches of the Islands and also make it as a yearly calendar event.

Port Blair, April 22: Applications in prescribed format have been invited from bonafide Fishers/Fish Farmers/Tribal to go on study tour to various places in mainland during the current year (2013-2014). The purpose of the study tour is to acquaint Fishers/Fish Farmers/Tribal of the islands with the latest and innovative development taking place in mainland. The entire expenditure on boarding and lodging and on travel shall be met by the Department. The Fishers/Fish Farmers/ Tribal in the age group of 18 to 45 years can submit their applications alongwith four copies of recent passport size photographs and copy of local certificate (with photograph duly attested by the Tehsilder) to the Director of Fisheries with due recommendations of Panchayat Pradhans/Tribal Councils through respective area officers on or before 10th June, 2013. The incomplete applications and the applications received after the due date shall not be entertained.

The applications, forms and the eligibility conditions can be collected from the respective area officer/Assistant Director of Fisheries (Training)/Directorate of Fisheries, Port Blair/Officer-in-charge of Fisheries Zonal Offices/Fisheries Sub-stations.
