Port Blair, April 21: A stream of visitors thronged the Corbyn’s Cove beach, venue of the second beach festival today. Beach sports of kabbadi, volleyball, food stalls were among the attractions for the visitors. The counter of nail art, tattoo and face painting set up by FORTO also attracted visitors. As safety measure, divers kept a watch on those who preferred to get into the water. Jet skies, sail boats criss crossed the water front throughout the day offering rides to the visitors. In the evening, storytelling and book reading was arranged by the Department of Art & Culture at the venue. Later, live musical programme was organized by Dream World Entertainers, a socio-cultural organization.

The three day event will concluded today at 6.00 pm in which the Secretary to Lt. Governor, Shri Satish Mathur was the chief guest. He distributed prizes to the winners of various events held during the Beach Festival.

Port Blair, April 21: The PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma has demanded for introducing M.Sc. Zoology in Jawahar Lal Nehru Rajakiya Mahavidyalaya, (JNRM) Port Blair. In his letter to the Administrator, Sharma has written that the students of  B.Sc Zoology 1st, 2nd and 3rd year  of  JNRM have requested him to approach to the Lt Governor for introducing M. Sc Zoology, which is not available in the College. As per reports, there was a proposal to start M.Sc Zoology along with PG Chemistry and Plant Science in the college, while PG Chemistry and Plant Science have been introduced, Zoology not been introduced.

Port Blair, April 21: Tamil Film ‘Kurivattam’, Produced by G Karthik Kumar and Directed by  Murugananda, the local youths,  was released by the PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma at Dr BR Ambedkar Auditorium today by lighting the traditional lamp.

On the occasion, Sharma lauded the efforts of the local youths for their endeavor of making feature film and wished them all success in future. Sharma felt that if given suitable chance, guidance and financial support these new generation can prove themselves in the field of film making and establish a film industry in this island.  He also praised the Producer and Director for choosing best locations of these islands and hoped that if this film is screened at Mainland, many tourists will be attracted to our islands. 

The Producer of the film has also acted in the film as villain and proved the role worthy through his rough and tough personality. Apart from many dignitaries, Shri G. Bhaskar, President Chamber of Commerce and Councillor, Shri G Rajendran was also graced the occasion.
